Today I wanted to bring to you my top 10 wardrobe essentials, to help you look your best at all times, whether that be a day in the office, a shopping trip or a night of cocktails with the girls – these tips will help you pull together any outfit.
1. THE CROSS BODY BAG
This is probably my favourite go-to accessory. It’s quick, easy and can take you from day time – to night time; not to mention they’re super comfortable. My fave’ cross body is this black leather satchel from http://www.mango.com. It has silver hardware and a minimalist vibe to it, which I seem to be gravitating more towards this season!
2. A WATCH
Not only are watches perfect for staying on track of the time, they also add that extra pizzazz your outfit can sometimes lack. I adore my Daniel Wellington black and rose gold Sheffield watch. It helps add a splash of class to my look and keeps me feeling feminine at all times, due to its dainty appearance.
3. BLACK TRAINERS
Trainers seem to have hit a massive trend over the last few years and I just can’t seem to stray away from my black Nike Huarache’s. They’re so comfortable and look pretty cool, in my opinion. The reason I would personally opt for a black pair would be based on my wardrobe colour palette, which is certainly more on the neutral side of things. Black can tie in with any colour, so whether you are like me and tend to opt for black, grey and white or whether you’re more adventurous and enjoy a pop of colour in your closet, black trainers are sure to slot right in. There are endless options when it comes to trainers, so choose a pair that take your fancy and make them work – trainers aren’t just for the gym, you know!
4. THE PUFFER JACKET
I am truly obsessed with my black (surprise, surprise) matte puffer jacket from Kenneth Cole. It seems to add a cool edge to my outfit, whilst still looking clean and put-together. There are so many different styles of puffer jackets and there definitely will be one out there to suit you, so try a few different styles out and see which one you feel the best in.
5. THE CAP
One word – bed head. You already know what I’m talking about.. When you wake up and just instantly know that you should not have avoided the chore of washing your hair, because it looks a hot mess right now. Well, don’t you worry, throw on a cap and you’re good to go! I love throwing on my faux suede cap when I’m heading to the gym to add a little extra to my gym attire.
6. BLACK JEANS
Okay, I think you may have established this by now, but I enjoy wearing black – it’s complimentary, low maintenance (especially if you’re clumsy, like me) and just meshes well with everything. My favourite black jeans would definitely have to be the Topshop Joni jeans. They make your body look poppin’, thanks to the high waist and curve hugging stretchy material, but please be aware that they do fade after a few washes (I know, it sucks) BUT you can always buy dye for your jeans.
7. THE STRAP-LESS BRA
I cannot stress this one enough – bra straps make outfits look so untidy, in my opinion. Invest in a good strap-less bra and you will forever look much more put-together. I bought mine from Lepel and I haven’t looked back since!
8. THE LITTLE BLACK DRESS
The LBD is definitely one of the most iconic fashion statements of all time. There are so many different ways to wear the LBD and it doesn’t necessarily need to be to the club, girl. You can wear a LBD with a pair of black tights, some ankle boots and a leather jacket and sport a casual, put-together look.
9. THE JUMPSUIT
If you haven’t tried out a jumpsuit – you need to try one. There genuinely is a style to suit everyone. I purchased a culotte style jumpsuit from H&M a few months back and it has been my go-to when I am looking for something classy, comfortable and easy to wear. Pair it with your most-loved heels and a cross-body and you’re ready to go!
10. THE DENIM JACKET
I am obsessed with denim jackets, there are so many variations available; from distressed, to cropped to oversized. The Topshop oversized Motto black denim jacket is a good staple to have in your wardrobe, as it can be paired with almost anything and it instantly adds a more cool, relaxed vibe.
